Jacob Fitzpatrick is a PhD candidate in music theory at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, completed his M.A. at the University of Minnesota, and B.A. from St. Olaf College. Fitzpatrick has taught piano since 1999, is Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in Piano (NCTM), and an active member in the Minnesota Music Teachers Association (MMTA). He has been a judge for piano contests for Thursday Musical, National Federation.

Both Fitzpatrick's piano and theory pedagogy are based on the spiral curriculum that teaches students essentially how to read, perform, interpret, and hear music. The music is rooted in the classical European tradition: celebrating the music of Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Bartok, and others; but music from the later 20th and 21st century is also important.
